Acarology is the survey of mites and ticks, the beast in the order Acarina. A title comes from either a Greek akari, a nature & severity of mite, and -ology ("study of"). These are the subfield of zoology.

The animal scientist specializing within acarology is known as an acarologist. Scientific journals of acarology include Acarologia,Experimental & Applied Acarology and International Journal of Acarology.
